Bo Nix is Built of Better Fiber

Bo Nix signed with Mizzen+Main at the start of his rookie season. This was before the wins piled up, before the injuries and the comebacks, and before he was a household name in Denver.
Three years later, we're excited to partner with him and provide off-the-field styles that suit his on-the-field performance. In addition to clothing his success, we’re even more interested in working with Bo because of how he views work, the process of becoming great, and the internal details that go into making him who he is.
The Drive Has to Come From Inside
Ask Bo what makes him different and he talks about something you won’t see from the outside.
"I've just developed an internal hunger and an internal drive that. It's not from anything outside. It's just something that I wake up with."
We didn’t write that for him. That's how he actually thinks about his craft, and it's the same standard we hold our product to. We don't chase trends or listen to outside pressure. We build shirts that perform because performance is the whole point, not because someone told us to.
Maximize the Opportunity You Have
Bo talks about work ethic in terms that come straight from his personal faith.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart. We're here to take what we do and make it the best we can make it, and maximize our opportunity."
That's the mindset of someone who doesn't waste what's in front of him. It's also the mindset of modern men of character. This same principle applies to the guy who's building a career, coaching a Little League team, and still making it to dinner on time. We aren’t making clothing for the guy wishing for more hours in the day. We’re for the men making the most out of the hours they do have.
Confidence Built on Repetition
Bo's confidence isn't loud. It's earned through reps:
"As quarterback, you've got to earn the right to react,” he says. “I'm confident in my work in the past and the experiences that I've been through, and know that I'm going to continue to work at it until I get it right.”
There's a discipline that goes beyond football. The exciting part isn’t just the result. It’s the process it takes to get there. That's the same philosophy behind every fabric test and fit iteration we run before a shirt ever reaches your doorstep.
Adversity Is the Point, Not the Obstacle
A fractured ankle in the AFC divisional round. Surgery. A shortened off-season. First-time fatherhood. All in the same year. Bo wouldn’t tell you that that stretch it derailed him. Instead, he describes it as one more thing that built him into who he is.
"Without the hardship and the difficulty and adversity, I wouldn't have been able to adjust like I have. You're definitely born with traits that allow you to endure, but you also develop them as you go."
That's a guy who understands that resilience is something you put reps into the same way you put reps into anything else worth being good at.
He Was Wearing Us Before We Were Paying Him To
After three years of partnering with Bo Nix, we’re still proud that all of this started before we even knew him personally. Bo has been wearing Mizzen+Main shirts for media days since back in college. He was buying Leeward Dress Shirts himself, long before any ambassador deal existed.
"It was like wearing an athletic shirt underneath a jacket or a suit, and they were just very comfortable to me," he said.
Three years in, he says he appreciated the clothing even more as life keeps changing. New baby in the house means clothes that survive spit-up and still go straight from the dryer to date night. It's a small detail, but it's the kind of real-world proof point that matters more than any campaign line we could write ourselves.
The Fit Nobody Else Gets Right
Sit Bo down to talk product and the conversation goes to the same place almost immediately: pants. Not because they're glamorous, but because they're the hardest thing in a man's closet to get right.
"The pants are what's always tough," he says, "but Mizzen+Main found a good way to get the pants to fit."
For an athlete, that's not a small complaint. Standard pants aren't built for a guy carrying serious weight in his legs. It's a problem most brands don't bother solving, because most brands aren't designing for people who train like he does.
"As athletes, it's tough to find pants that fit, that are comfortable, that go with the makeup of an athlete," he says. "That's why the Mizzen+Main Athletic Fit is really good. It fits to the upper part of your legs but then has that natural style that sort of tapers at the bottom. Not everybody's making an athletic fit for athletes. I think these pants fit really well for them."
That's the whole idea behind the athletic fit in one sentence, from the guy stress-testing it every day.
Comfort That Doesn't Look Like Effort
Bo's read on dress shirts gets at something we care about as a brand: a good outfit shouldn't feel forced.
"It's obviously flexible, comfortable, like you're wearing it for a game day but you don't feel like you're getting ready for a job interview," he says. "It's loose, breathable. It's not like a normal collared shirt that'll just annoy the crap out of your neck."
He said it again about his new Lavelle Blazer: "This texture's great because it's flexible, and it's a comfortable texture."
We hold our product to the same standards professional athletes do. If it doesn't move with him, it doesn't make the cut.
Built to Last, Not Just to Match
Ask Bo how he thinks about building a wardrobe and he's blunt about the churn most guys fall into.
"I try not to just get comfortable and get the same thing over and over. I like to have several things I can match with anything."
And once he finds a fit that actually works, he's not looking to replace it. He's looking to make it last.
"When you do find it, you want to make sure you maximize it. That's why I've tried to do with all of my Mizzen+Main styles because I know they will last for a long time."
Menswear is all about building a rotation you can actually rely on, season after season.
Catches Your Eye Without Being Loud
Bo's read on his own style could double as a design brief.
"I like the subtle casual look. It catches your eye without being loud."
He's after something specific. He wants to be different without trying too hard to prove it. "How can I not sort of wear what everybody else is wearing? How can I be just as sharp, but in my own way?" It's the same instinct we build into every piece: a detail in the weave, a fit that's just a little sharper, nothing that needs to shout to get noticed.
Forward Progress, Not Arrival
At Mizzen+Main, we don’t sign ambassadors because they're famous. We sign people whose approach to their craft matches the standard we build into our product — discipline, preparation, consistency, and the ability to perform when it counts. Bo represents forward progress, not arrival. That's not just how we talk about him. That's how we talk about the brand.
Three years ago, we partnered with a rookie who already had the right instincts. Now we're watching a starting NFL quarterback, a husband, and a first-time dad live those same instincts out in real time. And we're glad to still be a part of it all.

Jonny Wills is the Creative Director for Mizzen+Main where he leads creative strategy while still doing his first (and favorite) job—writing copy. And for the record, he put that em dash there all by himself.
