The Legend of the Leeward

The Legend of the Leeward

The Lincoln Memorial may be renowned for the stoicism on our sixteenth president’s face, but if you visit in August, you’ll see that even Abe’s brow has an unusual sheen. Sweat is everywhere.

There’s a certain time of year when the hierarchy and division that so commonly define this state look a little different. Suddenly, congressmen and their pages become equals in the fight against heat exhaustion. And the line between the Left and Right is as blurred as the mirage of heat above the asphalt.

Turns out there’s never been a worse place to wear a dress shirt. Because where confidence increases effectiveness, a wrinkled and sweat-soaked dress shirt becomes a hindrance to performance.

At the sight of a soaking wet staffer sprinting up the steps of Capitol Hill, the same thought that sparked a democracy also rattled around in our founder’s head: there has to be a better way. It didn’t take him long to find out he was right.

The thing is, we know what it’s like to wear a dress shirt that sucks.

Whether it’s wrinkled, sweat-stained, or bunched up around the belt, some dress shirts make for a terrible experience. And sitting in them (let alone moving around in them) day in and day out just isn’t good enough.

That feeling is why Mizzen+Main has been redefining the modern workplace wardrobe since 2012. With clothes that feel like your favorite athletic wear and look like custom tailored fits, getting dressed for work has never felt better.

Our OG shirt, The Leeward, was born out of a belief that it’s possible to look your best without compromising comfort. Whether you’re sprinting up the steps of Capitol Hill or stepping into your 9AM, you can do both with the confidence that comes from wearing a perfect fit.

The Leeward fabric is made of crisp, lightweight materials that come with moisture-wicking technologies to keep you cool and comfortable all day long. Since the original design, we know offer this same performance fabric in multiple styles.

Leeward Dress Shirt

This is your classic, original performance fabric dress shirt. It has superior quick-dry qualities and wrinkle resistant fabric. The back darts give the silhouette a tailored style and the spread collar gives it a classic look.

Like all of our dress shirts, it’s machine washable and ready to wear right away.

Leeward No Tuck

Imagine a more casual look with the same comfort and performance fabric as the original Leeward. The No Tuck collection is 2” shorter in the body and has a hidden button-down collar as well as 4-way stretch fabric.

They come in the classic white, blue, and gingham styles and also in other looks and patterns that help you add a little color to your closet.

Leeward Antimicrobial

Everything you know and love about the performance fabric of the Leeward, but with further technology to help make this shirt last even longer. These shirts are treated with SILVADUR™ antimicrobial technology (Winner of the R&D 100 Award and recognized as one of the top 100 most technologically significant products) for freshness and odor protection to keep you looking great and feeling fresh.

Leeward Formal Collection and Tux Shirt

If you need a shirt that can help you dress up a little, the Leeward Formal and Tux shirts are perfect. The Leeward Formal Dress shirt has a placket addition, longer collar points, brilliant buttons, convertible cuffs. It’s the perfect performance fabric dress shirts for weddings and other events that may require you to look a little fancy.

For the Leeward Tux, the name really gives it all away. Our famous performance fabric, also with french cuffs and a removable four-button placket to convert for stud use.

With so many performance fabric dress shirts to choose from, it may be hard to find your perfect fit. But never fear, we have a shirt finder that can help. Take the quiz (it will only take you a few minutes and every question is multiple choice, we promise).
